Our story begins in 1849, when the Glidden & Williams Line emerged as one of Boston’s premier clipper ship packet lines. Founded by William T. Glidden and John M. S. Williams, the company became known for its fast, reliable service during the height of America’s maritime era. Throughout the 1850s and 1860s, its clipper ships raced between Boston and San Francisco, transporting passengers, mail, and valuable cargo with unmatched speed and precision.
Nearly 166 years later, William T. Glidden IV carried that maritime legacy forward by founding Glidden & Williams Yacht Management in 2015. With an extensive background in boatyards and years of experience as a captain, William brings deep industry knowledge and strong professional relationships to his clients. Today, he and his team deliver comprehensive, turn-key yacht management services, ensuring every vessel is maintained, prepared, and ready for the water.
